John Keyton, President, jkeyton@hoover.k12.al.us

John Keyton graduated in 2014 with a Masters in Music Education and in 2012 with a B.M.E. Vocal/Choral with a Piano Concentration.  He worked in Jefferson County for 3 years and then moved to Bluff Park Elementary in 2015. John loves his Bluff Park family and feels so blessed to be at such an amazing school. He is happily married and has two wonderful boys, Johnny and Ezra.

Tabitha Van Meter, Vice President, tmaze@jefcoed.com

Tabitha Van Meter graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in 2012 with a BME with a vocal/choral concentration. Since graduating, Tabitha has been an elementary general music teacher with Jefferson County Schools for 7 years. In addition, she has taught voice lessons and is actively involved in her church choir.

Kris Lindley, Secretary, lindleyk@vhcs.us

Kris Lindley is the music teacher at Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights. Kris has an MME from the University of Montevallo, is a Kodály certified educator, and is the District IV Chairperson for AMEA. Kris is also a singer and conductor in the Independent Presbyterian Church Choir.

Jason Jackson, Treasurer, jasonjackson5@yahoo.com

Jason Jackson has been the K-6th general music teacher at Daphne East Elementary School since 2020 where he also directs the 4-6th grade choir and Orff ensemble. Jason earned his BMEd and MMEd from Auburn University and completed Level III Orff-Schulwerk certification. Jason also serves the elementary division of AMEA as District VII co-chairman.

Virginia Barr, Hospitality, vbarrteacher@gmail.com

Virginia Barr is the Music Teacher at Clanton Elementary School in Chilton County. She is going into her third year of teaching music full-time in public schools in Alabama. She has completed her Orff Level III certification and will complete Kodály Level III certification in July of 2022. Virginia graduated from Samford University with a master's degree in Music Education with a Choral Concentration in May of 2020. A native of Birmingham, AL, she has worked part-time as a children's music teacher at Trinity United Methodist Church and at South Highland Presbyterian Church since August of 2017. She taught Preschool Music at the South Highland Child Development Center from 2017-2020. She graduated from Bowdoin College in Maine with a Bachelors of Arts in Music and a minor in Earth and Oceanographic Science in 2016. Virginia has also performed in theatrical performances at various regional theaters in Birmingham since 2016. Most recently, she performed the role of Jenny in Company at the Virginia Samford Theatre. Virginia is excited to be the Hospitality Chair of the Alabama Chapter of the AOSA!
